The Ford Fiesta is one of Britain’s best-selling cars. It offers great value for money, plenty of kit, stylish looks and it is one of the most reliable used cars you can buy.

The Ford Fiesta ST-Line takes the already superb Fiesta and adds similar visual styling to the acclaimed ST model. A large rear spoiler, front splitter and 17-inch alloys give it a menacing look on the road. Firmer suspension allows you to push the car in the bends and happily, there’s very little compromise on slower urban driving where sports suspension in other cars comes unstuck.

Inside, you’ll find sports seats, air-con and a DAB radio with a 4.2-inch screen taking pride of place in the middle of the dash.

The ST-Line range comprises of three 1.0-litre EcoBoost models, producing either 99bhp, 123bhp or 138bhp, as well as a 94bhp 1.5-litre TDCi diesel. The EcoBoost engine technology has won countless awards over the years, offering surprising thrills with great fuel economy. One of the biggest draws of this three-pot engine is the way it inspires you to push hard through the gears, releasing a rather pleasant engine note in the process.

With an amiable engine, a comfortable ride and trustworthy handling the Ford Fiesta ST-Line does a great job of being a good hatchback. The old Zetec S moniker promised little in the way of sportiness, but the new name brings with it an expectation that some of the playfulness of the ST will be evident. While it may not reach the staggering heights that the full-fat ST does, it certainly holds its own against the competition.
