BMW 1 Series Hatchback Review

A popular car on the roads since it first rolled off the production line in 2004, the BMW 1 Series holds a lot of charm and a special place in our hearts. Read our review to see if this could be your next motor…

One of the things that makes the BMW 1 Series so unique is the rear wheel drive. Packing a punch for the price and while the 2019 model switches to front wheel drive, we’re still a fan of the classic design.

Here, we’re talking about the second generation 1 Series which launched in 2011 and was updated in 2014. A classic shape that is instantly recognisable, it’s a modern icon. Not the cheapest car on the market, but the look and the drive will prove it is worth the price tag.

Inside, you’ll find a user-friendly infotainment system that is renowned for being one of the slickest systems on the market. Everything is within easy reach and comfort remains paramount through every inch of the car. You’ll find different trims depending on the model, but our favourite is the subtle blue accents you can see on the interior of the M Sport model, as well as the refined seats and slick steering wheel.

The slowest model goes from 0-60PMPH in just over ten seconds while the sportiest model will get you there is just over four. Top speeds range from 120-155MPH and you’ll find the ride to be quiet, comfortable and smooth, whichever model you go for.

If you’re looking for an all-rounder, the 120d is probably the best model to go for but each model has its own benefits and even the entry level motors do the BMW name proud.
